Towards production

Towards production This week I dug deeper into cancel culture and online shamming but specifically David Dobrik who I briefly covered in my other production blog  Starting out  but I also wan to reflect  upon all my research so far as a group and future expectations.  Dobrik has suffered his fare share of backlash within the past few years still even to this day he gets criticised here and there.  June 2017 Dobrik released a video where he pranks one of the vlog squad members into kissing a girl but it was actually a guy, he was blindfolded so he had no idea. Seth Francois stated that this was sexual assault, David took Seth’s response seriously and posted an apology video a week later. David received massive backlash for this incident but nothing major affected his channel, all he did was take the video down and apologise. This is a fraction of the cancel culture and online shamming David has gone through see this link for more. https://www.vulture.com/20...

Technological evolution

Technological evolution  For this weeks task I watched a couple videos about technology advancements and evolution, what I adore about the topic is seeing how our ancestors developed society bye making these small but amazing advancements with technology. Over the years it is clear to see how fast humanity has gone form point A to B, it's fantastic to imagine how Alexander Gramh Bell invented the first telephone. Henry ford with the very first car the graced humanutitys presence with the ford model T; now we have the fastest computer known to man, the quantum computer.  History of human evolution The second video was based on the history of media literacy, I don't not find this video as interesting as the first howere their was one quote that caught my eye. “The history of media literacy follows the history of media technology- with each new invention discussions and fears follow”. This was intriguing to me because it's seen even in today's world, the elderly folk who ...

Peer review #2

Peer review  This weeks peer review tasks were interesting to write comments about the article was of use to me,  Feedback . However it was too long and took me too long to even skim through, I did try to use different reading techniques. From my first blog I’m trying to learn how to properly phrase my sentences and use different methods of writing. I learned that commas aren’t the only thing I can use to separate my sentences, for example brackets/commas; and dashes- may be used to separate sentences. This is a method used to make your sentences look and sound better; it adds flair. The other new techniques that I want to use in my next blog is keeping my paragraphs structured correctly and straight to the point. In the article the study stated “ In other words, the finding suggests that, although the quality of peer feedback that students receive may not have a direct impact on the quality of their final projects, students’ ability to critically evaluate and analytical...

Starting out

Image
Starting out For our group project we will be researching about cancel culture and online shaming, in my own terms cancel culture is when someone is shunned or rejected from a social circle and this can take place on social media or even your social life, online shamming is the when you get harassed by internet users on social media. Both online shaming and cancel culture has had drastic affects on people but especially celebrity's because they have a huge fan base, the most extremes case of this is the Logan Paul incident. The part that interests me the most is the effects  that online shaming can have, one of them is how your mental health can drop significantly because it seems like the whole world is against you. An example of this would be famous musician Travis Scott, he deleted his Instagram account due to his fanbase turning on him.   Travis dressed up as batman in a brown costume to match the colour of hos cars, fans didn't like this and swarmed his social media...

Peer review #1

Peer review For this week I was tasked with reviewing blogs from my peers, both blogs were delightful to read and both blogs gave me a different insight on how I can improve my own style of writing, I also read four articles, two on receiving feedback and two on giving feedback. The first article runs through how there were certain exercises to achieve and the correct measures to giving feedback, the most important detail was that it's better to show someone what they could do to improve rather than what they did wrong. It's called feedforward, when giving someone feedback they could take it the wrong way but feedforward gives them a different mindset and makes it almost fun to receive. Experiment on feedforward I see this as a very optimistic view point on receiving feedback, it also sounds a lot better when you help someone and show them a way to improve rather than saying this, that and this is wrong, it shows your dwelling on someone's weak spot and making fun of it in...

Production process

Production process The video I was tasked with watching was filled with constructive information on design thinking, in my own words, I would say design thinking is undergoing a creative process to successfully understand the needs of a certain product. Design thinking is a hot topic when it comes to marketing, every company would most likely have a team dedicated to this role so it's always key to keep it in mind for anything. Social media is always changing and adapting, so having design thinking skills is one thing that may help you tackle things like product design or project work; different social media companies are always thinking of ways to engage their users and having design thinking skills will be essential for this role. All digital media projects should apply design thinking so the team has an ethical way of gathering their information to gauge the audience, research the needs and wants but also ease the quality of life for the user, have prototypes and finally run te...
