Study skills
Introduction
Recently after watching the videos I managed to get a different insight of how to take/ study notes.
In my experiences I have used active recall and spacing to study for upcoming tests or exams, these methods have certainly helped as it was the perfect method to help me improve. Although I have not used interleaving as this was difficult. When I'm testing myself using active recall I would cover the definition and try recite what it is, this helped but it was time consuming... I wish I used flash cards. I used spacing but I couldn't bring myself to study over the course of the week, interleaving was also a disaster because by the time I had to relearn the information I already forgot it.
I have only read a couple of books and even now I wouldn't start reading a book during my free time because of my dyslexia. This made my learning difficult because I wouldn't understand or phrase a word properly.
Current feelings towards reading and writing
Reading and righting have been my dark shadow, no matter where I am they follow me. I don't like reading because I want to see what the author is prescribing to me, when I am reading I struggle to see the visual image that's why I prefer to watch movies and play video games. Its the same with writing or even writing to someone, I feel like writing doesn't do justice to the emotions and feelings a person is showing. In short I rather have see what your trying to portray to me by using visuals.
My experiences with the concept of media literacy
In the past when I was younger I used to care a lot more about social media and I listened to everything on it. When I was first introduced to the likes of Snapchat and Instagram I started to care about the little things that actually didn't matter. For example, how big my snap score was or how many followers I had on Instagram, as I grew older I started to realise that there just numbers and shouldn't actually care. This so far has been the only experience of media literacy that's affected me.
Applications of media literacy
There are a few things that could be done to help apply media literacy for example websites are designed to to show and feed you useful information so you can stay on the sight longer. This is what can lead to problems like being unable to put your phone down because its content is aimed to your liking, another application would be when your trying to find something on the internet and you phrase it incorrectly. This problem is quite frequent but at least it allows users to think critically so this brings a much more advanced and creative look on how you use your words to search the web.
