Digital Media

 Digital Media

I watched a few videos on digital media and digital literacy and my thoughts haven't really changed on the subject, originally I thought that digital media was a type of hub where everyone can communicate with each other using any form of technology or accessibility to shape and form their ideas. These ideas would then be broadcasted to others and they would share their thoughts and feelings on the topic. Memes are one example of how everyone can share how a certain image or text can relate to them, the next image is a meme a I can very much relate to.
This is dodge and everyone would probably know doge because he was a big a meme in 2010. Media has advanced and improved so much that their are so many ways to advertise is, this can be compared with old or "traditional" media to new media. This can be seen in technology with huge advancements, the first example would be the change of shape, style and user interface within televisions. They used to be huge box like constructions with old graphics and no colour and they only had set functions  but now they are fitted with a more slick design e.g flat or curved screens as well as some new features like adding YouTube, Spotify and Netflix and many more. With this you have the internet everywhere around your household.

Another example you could find is that instead of flyers and letters as a way of advertising or keeping in touch instead you would find emails and online articles so everything is easier for you to access and come across. Finally another example about the difference in media would be the difference between advertising using billboards and social media in general, you would still see bill boards around most places but advertising has taken to the internet so any site you visit you are instantly bombarded with thousands of recommendations and adds of what you should bye next.

One surprising element of the ted talk video was how old and young people find media and technology difficult to deal with and how they each use different methods the deal with the challenge. The example given was how a toddler picked up the mouse and moved it vertically, attempting to move the courser on the screen. When I was younger I tried to touch a screen to see if it moved, I had no luck... I also noticed how older people find it more challenging to figure out the menu on a sky box, these are the differences on how the different ages try tackle technology for the for their first time.

Any thoughts you would like to share?
